I was in Bloomingdale's Home yesterday with my good friend Courtney, and we meandered over to the sale section. Every now and then, the home store has fantastic sales, and it's possible to score some amazing deals. They had oodles of All-Clad on sale, but I wisely stayed away from that table. What they DID have on sale, and I had been wanting to buy for quite some time, were the oval Le Creusets. I have several sizes of the round dutch ovens, and they're great for making sauces, chicken dishes, chile verde, you name it. They evenly distribute heat and really do keep flavors in and intensify them (and no, it's not just a marketing gimmick). So what did I discover was 60% off, with an additional 10% off for being the last one with no box? This lovely 5 quart oval in the same blue as my other Le Creuset family. Is it not the perfect size in which to roast a chicken?

What's your favorite roast chicken recipe?

Gosh - I wish I had even one roast chicken recipe, let alone a favorite! LOL. I saw something yesterday that made me want to buy a whole chicken (something I've never done before) and roast it with lemons, garlic and rosemary in the cavity... and rubbed with olive oil and rosemary on the outside... sounded delish... I was planning on making it... and then... and then... and then I remembered that DH won't go near chicken on the bone. Waaaaaaaah. So no roast chicken for me. But it sounds fantastic... with some roasted potatoes, roasted asparagus tips w/lemon, roasted green beans w/red peppers and some cast-iron buttermilk biscuits. OMG now I'm really getting hungry! And of course, I'd have to make dessert too... apple cobbler maybe (not that I've ever *made* one of those mind you but it does sound yummy huh?!?! LOL).

Okay enough talk about food!

I love your new LC piece! I myself don't happen to own any LC... I do have a Lodge Enamel on Cast Iron 5.5qt dutch oven that I love... and a Techniques Enamel on Cast Iron 3qt casserole dish (which is way cool because the lid doubles as an enamel on cast iron skillet - - - it's da bomb, baby!). And I have an assortment of preseasoned Lodge cast iron skillets and specialty pans. Cast iron is great for cooking!

Love the color of your new LC as well. Do you stay in the same color family?

Hey, and before I forget... thanks for including me in your blogroll =)

My favorite roast chicken recipe:

- Go to the grocery store
- Pick up a basket
- Go to the "prepared foods" section
- Pick up a hot, herb roasted chicken in a bag
- Purchase chicken
- Go home and eat

It's pretty simple AND delicious.
